The Thermal Repair Process |
- The area for the repair is cleaned. All debris is removed
- A perimeter at least 6” from the defect is heated by the EZ Pavement Repair Infrared Heater. This take less than 10 minutes.
- The asphalt is now close to its original state, meaning softened by the heating process, and is scarified.
- Workers add new asphalt as needed and spray asphalt oil to rejuvenate the pavement. 100% of the existing asphalt is recycled.
- The surface is now leveled. This is called luting.
- Now that the surface is level it is compacted with a roller or plate compactor.
Because this is a thermal bond, the repair is fused to the existing pavement. This restores the pavement back to a continuous surface level with the existing asphalt eliminating seams. This also reduces damage caused by normal traffic, snow plows and other hazards inherent to traditional repairs.
